James Urlini is a Hong Kong-born Istro-Australian artist and designer currently based in Naarm / Melbourne, Victoria. Falling somewhere between the worlds of graphic design and architecture, he is interested in the collision and appropriation of ideas, disciplines and technologies as a means of communicating and storytelling.
A member of the inaugural Science Gallery Melbourne SciCurious group, James finds solace in liminality and enjoys interrogating and challenging the boundaries that define “disciplines”. He hopes to produce work that encourages speculation and generates discussion.

James acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which he lives and conducts his practice, the Woiwurrung and the Boonwurrung peoples of the greater Kulin nation. He recognises that sovereignty was never ceded and pays his respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
