Art Direction, Wayfinding
The Ian Potter Museum of Art, based at the Parkville campus of the University of Melbourne, is the largest university-based museum in Australia.

This wayfinding system for the Museum revolves around four main considerations which have been embedded into the design: accessibility, consistency, clarity, and cost-effectiveness.

Principles of human centred design and customer experience (CX) mapping allowed us to devise a system that naturally reflected the journeys of a variety of visitor personas. Based on these speculative journeys through the Museum, vinyl signage that can be wrapped around corners was devised to maximise the efficiency of the wayfinding system and to guide people naturally through the space.

The size of our signage type and placement as well as the pt. size of the text is based on the optimum height for visual range overlap between seated and standing people (in order to accommodate for people of different heights and abilities).
